A Nice City of China ShangHai 中国上海
When I was four, I went to this now magnificent international city – Shanghai - with my parents for the very first time. Since I was still too young that time and my memory of Shanghai is not very clear, I've always wanted to go visit Shanghai again, finally I went to Shanghai again in year 2001.
This time Shanghai was very different from before. I went to all the tourist attractions in Shanghai including “The Tower of Oriental Pearl” which is a very specially designed tower that you can see from the pictures below. It’s also the 3 tallest tower in the world. Also at “Xue-Jia-Hui” – the most bustling shopping street in Shanghai - you can choose from so many different things, from cheap to expensive, from ancient to modern and from Asian to Western etc. The Jin Mao tower which is about 420 meters tall also left a great impression on me. I could look down from the top which is the 88th level of the building and see very far away. Looking through a telescope from the building I was surprised to see people in the Tower of Oriental Pearl observation deck looking back! A good friend of my father’s also took us to some less visited but very nice places, including top class restaurant which served one of the best crab meals in the country. The crab is called “Da zha xie” in Chinese which is a special type of crab that is very hard to find. They steam the crab whole so that no flavours are lost when cooking. Crab takes some skill! You are given a special pair of seafood clippers, and from there you open the crab and eat it with your hands. I really enjoyed Shanghai, and I hope to go there again, now that they’ve got the fastest train in the world linking the airport to the city. The train hovers above the track using magnets and reaches speeds of 430 km/h – about half the speed of a plane! |
